Rocker Steiner Talks NFR Go-Round Wins and 2024’s Top Bucking Horses on WSR

Rocker Steiner talks bucking horses and the National Finals Rodeo on Western Sports Round Up.

Another successful regular season is in the books for No. 1 ranked bareback rider in the World, Rocker Steiner.

Even with 20 wins to his name in this season alone, Steiner’s final push to be No. 1 in the World came on the final weekend at the final rodeo, the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup.

“I drew pretty good there, especially in the Eight and Four man. You know, it was all on the table right there and I’m glad we had a chance and an opportunity to jump to No. 1,” Steiner said.

Looking back at Steiner’s second National Finals Rodeo, he claimed three Go-Round wins. The first came on Smith Pro Rodeo’s Risky Business and the second was on Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics’ Mustard. His third also came on one of Wade Sankey’s horses, Land of Fancy.

“I won Fallon and oh my gosh, my dad was going nuts. But I won Fallon on Mustard and it was kind of an underdog and I’m glad me and Wade got a win,” he said.

When it comes to bucking horses and the top three bareback horses of the year, Steiner holds the World Record on No. 2, C5 Rodeo’s Virgil and has picked up wins on No. 3. Agent Lynx of the Calgary Stampede. However, a matchup with the now two-time Bucking Horse of the Year, Night Crawler of Pickett Pro Rodeo, has eluded the young phenom.

“It’s a great horse, I’ve never had a chance to get on it. I think that horse would really fit my style. So I’m praying for the day I get to get on that thing and it deserves to be Horse of the Year,” he said.

As Steiner looks forward to returning to Las Vegas, his training is only going up and he is gunning for that Gold Buckle.
