Kendra Santos is a pioneer for women in sports journalism and more specifically rodeo.
The 2023 Cowgirl Hall of Fame Inductee grew up as the only girl, an aspect of her life that she says was a wonderful blessing. Her blessings continued in the form of letters.
“For some reason, writing letters has, my whole life, been a big deal... That is at my roots. And the women in my life, my grandmothers and my aunts being my pen pals, i just got to do the coolest things... I loved explaining to my aunts and my grandmas, down to the details,” Santos said.
Her passion for storytelling started there and today, she has access to rodeo’s biggest stars that allows her to tell their stories in ways that stick with you.
“The cowboys are my friends and the cowgirls too and to be able to spend time with them that other people dont get to and to get to show the world, this is who they are, they’re the coolest people,” she said.
