Rodeo Update: Iowa’s Championship Rodeo

Sidney, Iowa, kicked off its 97th annual Championship Rodeo on Wednesday, with some of the biggest names in the sport showing up and showing out.

Inarguably the the biggest story of night 1 was the return of World Champion saddle bronc rider Wade Sundell — who not only made his first ride at a ProRodeo since being severly injured at the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo last August, but also won the round with an 84.5-point ride on Fettig Pro Rodeo’s U b Rockin. Sundell continues to top the leaderboard, though he’s now splitting first and second with Logan Hay, who went 88.5 points in perf 2 on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Roller Coaster.

Steve Kenyon and Janie Johnson look back at Sundell’s triumphant return as well as other top moments from opening night at Iowa’s Championship Rodeo.

Watch highlights from perf 2 tonight on Western Sports Roundup, airing live at 6PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and PRCA on Cowboy Channel+ app. For the most up-to-date results following night 2 in Sidney, click here.
