Deemed the World’s Oldest Rodeo, the Pecos Rodeo has been held in Pecos, Texas, since 1883. Sadly Pecos announced today that is has to cancel for 2020. But the rodeo assures that it is already planning for its 2021 event, scheduled for June 23- 26.

In their announcement on Facebook today Pecos Rodeo stated:

We are deeply saddened to share this news with you. The decision to not host the famous West of The Pecos Rodeo™ is a really tough one, but a necessary one. We are comforted knowing our community is not being put in harm’s way with the novel coronavirus, for that would be a burden we could not bear. With the continual rise in COVID-19 cases we know we can not put on the West of The Pecos Rodeo™ with out the support of our rodeo fans in the seats.

For 137 years the West of The Pecos Rodeo™ has been a celebration of community and a catalyst to support education, local not for profits, service organizations, and provide a direct benefit to the regional economy.

We would like to personally thank each of our sponsors, as they help to make this event possible along with the committee members, volunteers, contestants and fans.

We are actively getting ready for the 2021 rodeo that will be June 23-26th!
