RodeoHouston: Recap, Highlights and Payouts

RodeoHouston marked the biggest payday opportunity of the year for athletes

One of the most important rodeos of the season has come and gone, and with increased payouts, RodeoHouston changed the season of several athletes. This year, the Shootout paid $65,000 to first place with second earning $30,000, the third earning $20,000, and fourth earning $10,000.

Rocker Steiner Gets Season Back on Track

Rocker Steiner has been battling an injury throughout the 2025 season, and it showed in his results. Before RodeoHouston, Steiner had been on just five bucking horses and had been over 80 on just one of his three qualified rides.

Steiner quickly put any questions about his season to bed with three rides over 80 points in his Super Series to advance with $5,000 earned.

Steiner was 84.5 points in the Semis, which was good enough to move him on to the Finals. The last question about Rocker’s health was answered in the Finals with his first 90-point ride of the season. He proved he was healthy enough to tame one of the best bucking horses in the PRCA. Steiner matched up with Agent Lynx for a 91-point ride. It was the second straight year Agent Lynx was a part of the championship ride in Houston.

After the rodeo, Rocker talked about how important this win was.

“I started this year off pretty banged up from the NFR and I didn’t do so good at the first two rodeos. $65,000 puts back right where I wanted to be. Without Houston, I don’t know if I’d be rodeoing this summer.”

Rocker is up to No. 2 in the PRCA World STandings with $70,125 earned on the season. All but $125 of those earnings came from RodeoHouston.

Riley Webb Wins Houston for Second Time in Three Seasons

Riley Webb has done it all in his short career. He is a two-time World Champion and former holder of the regular season earning’s record in the Tie-Down Roping. Now, he can call himself a two-time winner of RodeoHouston after going 7.6 seconds in the Shootout.

Webb dominated from his second run on. In his six performances, he won five of the Go Rounds and the one Go Round he didn’t win was because he broke out for a time of 18.6 seconds.

“I’ve been wanting to run this calf all week. I knew if I stayed behind the barrier, kept her on her feet, got her ready to tie that I had a chance to win it and it all worked out. That horse Rudy, he’s been great for me and super blessed to do my job,” Webb said.

Webb is No. 1 in the Tie-Down Roping World Standings with just over $100,000 earned on the year.

Ryder Wright Wins it in a Ride-Off

This was Ryder Wright’s ninth RodeoHouston and after a ride-off, he can finally claim a RodeoHouston Title. Wright opened the rodeo with two Go-Round wins in his Super Series. He placed fourth in the final round and moved on to the Semis.

In the Semis, Wright was 85 points to successfully advance to the Finals. Ryder won the eight-man round on Championship Sunday with an 87.5-point ride.

In the Shootout, Wright and Kolby Wanchuk tied with 88-point rides. In the ride-off, Wright was 87.5 points to Wanchuk’s 81.5 points.

Wright knew he had the advantage when he saw he drew Mortician of Cervi Brothers.

“I had this horse in Nampa Short Round a few years ago, I was 88 on it, I think. So I knew he was going to give me a chance if I just did my part and luckily it all worked out,” Wright said.

Wright is up over $131,000 on the season and has earned more than any other athlete in the PRCA. The regular season earnings record is now in sight for Wright, who would need another $150,000 to get there.

Kassie Mowry Continues Great Texas Swing

Kassie Mowry has earned a nice payday at the three major rodeos of the Texas Swing so far. In Fort Worth she placed third, followed by a second-place finish in San Antonio. In Houston, she took home the $65,000 payday after beating out Hailey Kinsel by .02 seconds in the Shootout.

Mowry is up over $100,000 already on the season after going to just seven rodeos. She holds a nearly $50,000 lead on Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi in the WPRA World Standings.

“I’m so grateful for this horse. He just seems to rise up to the occasion. He just knows when I really need him the most,” Mowry said after her win.
