RodeoHouston: Super Series 2 Semifinals Qualifiers

The second Super Series of the biggest rodeo in the Texas Swing is complete and the Semifinals are filling up.

Houston Super Series 2 and 3

Super Series 2 in Houston brought with it familiar faces and one rookie standout that blew away his competition.

The top four money earners in each event have moved on to one of two Semifinals on March 13-14.

BAREBACK RIDING

It is four of rodeo’s top veterans heading to the Semifinals from Super Series 2. R.C. Landingham is No. 1 with $5,125 after a round win and tie for sixth. Texas’ Chad Rutherford slid into second with $4,750 and that is in part thanks to the ride that started it all in Super Series 2.

STEER WRESTLING

Two of three Go-Round wins went to Ty Erickson and the faster of the two came in Round 3 when the clock stopped at 4.4 seconds. Stetson Jorgensen sneaks in as the No. 4 cowboys after consistently placing all three rounds.

TEAM ROPING

Heeler Colby Payne, is off to a better trip in Houston than last year. He is roping with Jr. Dees this time and the two lead their Super Series after winning Round 1 and placing in 2 and 3. Clint Summers and Jake Long hung in by just $250 to be the fourth hole.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

This is where standout Resistol Rookie Shea Fournier shined. Two go-round wins coming in at 86 and 86.5 points brought in big cash. Fellow Louisianna cowboy and college friend, Ryder Sandford, landed fourth after placing twice.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

Those moving on in the tie-down roping are young guns that have already left their mark. Reigning World Champion Riley Webb broke out in the first round and still found himself in the No. 1 hole. Kincade Henry only trails by $2,000.

Maddy Deerman might not have won a round but she proves it is a marathon, not a sprint. She placed second in both rounds to be the No. 1 lady in Super Series 2. Josie Conner had the fastest time of the Super Series to lock in her place in the Semifinals.
