Rocker Steiner drew Calgary Stampede’s Yipee Kibitz in the Championship Showdown on Sunday to be 91.5 points and win the iconic Calgary Stampede bronze in his rookie year.
“Yeah, you’ve got to believe that you can be the champion or else there would be no reason to show up,” Steiner said.
This was a special win to the young bareback rider as his grandad, Bobby, was there to take it all in with him.
“I know my dad is at home, probably on the phone with my grandad who’s here with me, without you guys I couldn’t do it so thank y’all and I love y’all and I can’t wait to get home and celebrate,” he said.
After hustling through his pool, the 10-man round and an exhilarating Final Four, Steiner said the memory that will stick with him is his time spent with his grandad.
With this win, Steiner has moved to No. 3 in the world with $106,131 total, trailing only two of bareback riding’s best, Jess Pope and Cole Reiner.
