Rookie Bull Rider Cooper James Takes it All in Bracket 4 Round 3 of San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo to Advance

Cooper James made the only qualified ride in Round 3 of his bracket to move on to the Semifinals.

Cooper James as an early start on an unforgettable rookie year. After qualifying for San Antonio through the Uvalde qualifier and then picking up traction in Round 2 of Bracket 4 in San Antonio, he was the only one to make the eight in Round 3, picking up a hefty check that helped cinch his place in the Semifinals.

“It’s awesome. Coming into the qualifier I only got one rode and then barely slipped in and fell off my first one here in the set. Got it switched around this morning, thanks to my mom and dad for all the pep talks, and got it flipped around. Rode one this morning for third and then was just blessed to be able to get this one rode tonight,” James said.

He has found the momentum he has been looking for a James’ support system is filled with some of rodeo’s top notch athletes like Lefty Holman and Brody Cress along with family.

Being the only one to ride in Round 3 earned James enough money to be the No. 1 cowboy in Bracket 4 with $8,833 to his name. Dustin Boquet and Maverick Smith tied for seocnd and third with $2,583 while Roscoe Jarboe brings up the fourth spot at $2,500.

Boquet and Smith split the Round 2 win with a pair of 84 point rides while Jarboe lead the charge with 89 points to win Round 1.

San Antonio has two rounds of Semifinals and the four bull riders from Bracket 4 are rolling in hot.
