Jeter Lawrence enters his first NFR as the No. 1 Rookie and the No. 6 overall bull rider. He put together over $200,000 in earnings in his rookie year thanks to several big wins. Lawrence will begin his NFR less than $40,000 back of TJ Gray who holds the No. 1 spot.
He will not only be competing for the World Title, but with three first-year cowboys heading to Vegas, the Resistol Rookie of the Year crown is on the line as well.
San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, $9,750
The rookie competed in just one Texas Swing Rodeo and made it well worth it. After qualifying with a 2-for-2 performance in Uvalde in January, Lawrence 3-of-5 bulls at the big show in the Frost Bank Center and all three of them were worth 85.5 points or more.
In the Finals, Lawrence rode for 88 points to take third behind Clayton Sellars and Jake Gardner.
Rio Grande Valley Xtreme Buls, $5,584
Lawrence’s highest marked ride of the season, and thus his career, came in Mercedes, Texas on March 13. He was 91 points on Rocky Mountain Rodeo’s Spilled Communion and was the only cowboy to ride that bull in 2024.
Cody Stampede, $10,154
Lawrence’s first PRCA Playoff Series win of his career came at the Cody Stampede where he was 87.5 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Bridewater. Lawrence was two points ahead of three-time Reserve World Champion Josh Frost.
California Rodeo Salinas, $18,828
Lawrence added another big win at California Rodeo Salinas thanks to two great rides. In the Opening Round, Lawrence placed second with an 86.5-point ride to earn nearly $6,000. In the Finals, he was 88 points to get the win on Flying U Rodeo’s Naughty Sal’ Lawrence. He also placed first in the Average after going 174.5 on two. He was the only cowboy to ride two.
The day before the actual rodeo began, Lawrence was second in Round 1 and third in the Average at the X Bulls there to make his trip to the Golden State worth over $26,000 in total.
Cinch Playoffs Puyallup, $11,244
Lawrence only rodeo two of his four bulls in Puyallup, but he made them worth it. In the First Round, he was 88 points to earn nearly $4,750. After being bucked off his next two, Lawrence placed third in the Finals with an 82-point ride to earn an additional $6,500. It also advanced him to the Governor’s Cup.
Pendleton Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale, $20,680
In what would be his second most lucrative rodeo, Lawrence took second at the Pendleton Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale. He went 3-for-4 at the rodeo including an Opening Round 87-point ride to get the round win. In the Finals, he was 87 points, which secured a second-place finish in the aggregate.
Pendleton Round-Up, $11,168
After a second-place finish at the Xtreme Bulls in Pendleton, Lawrence placed second at the Pendleton Round-Up. Lawrence was 86 points in the Opening Round and 88 points in the Finals. Both rides were good for second in each round and they also brought Lawrence to 174 on two, which again placed him second in the aggregate.
In total he was 5-for-6 in Pendleton and averaged 85.8 points.
Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup, $27,375
Lawrence ended the season with the Governor’s Cup and made his trip to South Dakota worthwhile. In the first two rounds, he placed second and third with rides of 85.5 and 87 points. Lawrence was bucked off in the Eight-Man, but would still advance to the Finals thanks to his previous two rides. In the Finals, he was marked 85 points to place third and add another $15,000 to his earnings.
In total, Lawrence made over $75,000 in September to move up four spots in the World Standings.
