Kade Sonnier flew from Casper after becoming your Reserve National Champion Bareback Rider at the College National Finals to taking the Round 1 lead at Reno Rodeo. Aboard Flying 5 Rodeo’s Cougar Country, Sonnier made an 86-point ride for his first ever ride in Reno.
“When I saw what I had, I knew I had a pretty good chance to have some fun and just get the momentum going,” he said.
Sonnier is a part of a tough rookie class in the bareback riding. He currently sits No. 2 in the Resistol Rookie standings and No. 7 in the PRCA World Standings. This 86 kicked off Sonnier’s rookie summer run with a bang as he looks forward to Round 2 in Reno.
