Roughstock Athlete of the Week: Bareback Rider Waylon Bourgeois Steals Super Series 1 at RodeoHouston

Waylon Bourgeois could not be stopped when RodeoHouston kicked off.

Waylon Bourgeois AOW

Waylon Bourgeois finished No. 16 in the World at the end of the regular season in 2024 and this year, he is getting a head start on making sure that does not happen again. Your Roughstock Athlete of the Week capitalized on all three go-rounds of his at RodeoHouston to not only land a spot in the Semi-Finals but to be the highest money earner so far.

Louisiana’s star bareback rider picked up all three go-round wins. It all started with Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Family Tradition and an 86-point ride in Round 1 to split the win before Rounds 2 and 3 were all his.

Another Cervi Championship bucking horse in Round two, Organic Outlaw, would be the other half of an 85-point ride and in Round 3, Bourgeois’ match up was Rocky Mountain Rodeo’s Stomper for 87. When you combine all three wins, Bourgeois is sitting pretty with $8,500 to his name in Houston.

Bourgeois is coming off a $10,440 month of February and losing no steam. He added to his Houston earnings with a payday at the Cinch World’s Toughest in South Carolina to be your No. 4 bareback rider in the PRCA World Standings and your Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
