Rylee George Talks Being a First Time NFBR Qualifier, Family Support and Horsepower

California Native Rylee George is Las Vegas bound for the first time in her professional career.

Rylee George’s regular season left her on the bubble going into the final month of the season but when September 30 wrapped up, George sat in the No. 14 spot, unofficially locking in her place at the National Finals Breakaway Roping.

“I’m pretty excited about it. There’s a lot of things that we’ve been, that I’ve been learning about it but I’m excited for this first time,” Georga said.

A huge part of George’s season has been her family support. Between her father and her uncle helping with her roping and breaking down her runs and her mother and stepfather keeping her mounted with exceptional horsepower, George had the recipe for success.

Among the horses in George’s rig are two that make her job easy, Deputy and Royce.

“Deputy, he was one of the greats, he still is. I rode him this winter at the buildings and then sometime this summer, here and there, but mainly this summer I rode Royce, who I’ve just started in the breakaway last summer and he’s been great for me,” she said.

As the first time NFBR qualifier prepares for the South Point, one word comes to mind: sharp. She is practicing and continues to enter to keep herself and her equine partners at the top of their game before the big show rolls around.
