Saddle Bronc Rider Ira Dickinson Joins WSR to Talk Mountain State Circuit Finals Win and 2025 Plans

Dickinson is heading back to the NFR Open for the second straight year

Saddle bronc rider Ira Dickinson won the Average at the Mountain State Circuit Finals, ticking off one of his goals for the season.

“Drew some really, really nice horses and tried to capitalize on them,” he said.

He kicked off last weekend’s Circuit Finals with a big bang, winning the first two rounds, including one on an NFR horse - Kirsten Vold’s I’ma Be.

“Miss Kirsten and I were pumped (about the draw), I hadn’t had that horse yet, and she’s a bronc rider’s dream,” he said. “With those kinds of bloodlines, I was extremely happy to have her.”

Dickinson paid off the great draw with 85 points, the highest marked ride of the saddle bronc riding for the entire rodeo. He finished with 247 points on three, edging out his friend Coleman Shallbetter for first at the event. Dickinson said he wished he could have his Round 3 ride, where he was 78 points, back.

The win qualified Dickinson for the NFR Open in Colorado Springs for the consecutive year and he will purchase his PRCA card for the 2025 season.
