Saddle Bronc Rider Statler Wright Ties for Rodeo Austin Semifinal Lead

Statler Wright and Diamond G Rodeo’s Dr. Charlie join the top.

Statler Wright’s Texas Swing momentum has yet to slow down. The Utah saddle bronc rider put together an 87-point ride in his Semifinals at Rodeo Austin to tie for No. 1.

“I guess they wanted to start the rodeo off with a bang. That’s what my dad always tells me. They’ve got to start somewhere, might as well start with you. I was excited. I knew I had a good horse so just same thing everyday,” Wright said.

In true Wright family fashion, Stetson was cheering Statler on through the whole ride and their celebration after spurs them on even more.

“We get pretty excited. A little bit of cuss words but other than that he’s super supportive, just telling me good ride. I think he has more confidence in me than I have in myself so it’s awesome having him here,” he said.

Wright tied with Coleman Shallbetter for that No. 1 spot with only one Semifinals standing between him and Rodeo Austin Short Go.
