During Saturday’s Cinch Chute-Out at the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo, San Angelo native Ty Harris caught up with reporter Amy Wilson to talk about the stiff competition in the tie-down roping, his horse El Gato, and what it means to him to compete in his hometown.
“It’s been an amazing opportunity, and I am really excited to get to do it again tonight,” says Harris, who qualified for his first NFR this past December. “I get more excited, nervous goose bumps here than I do anywhere, but I crave it. It’s pretty awesome.”
Harris went on to make the final round in the Chute-Out and placed second behind Shad Mayfield, stopping the clock at 7.9 seconds and winning $3,000.
