Sara Winkelman clinched victory at the Fort Worth Stock Show, riding her horse Rory to a time of 16.40 seconds in the Final Round.
“It just shows how much heart he has, he’s amazing,” Winkelman said about her beloved equine companion.
Winkelman advanced from Bracket 2, secured the Round 2 win, and dominated Semifinals B with a 16.26, the fastest run of the rodeo, to secure her spot in the Short Go inside Dickies Arena.
After falling outside of the Top 15 in 2023, this win will aid in Winkelman’s efforts of qualifying for her first National Finals Rodeo as she collected $27,000 in earnings to claim the No. 2 spot in the WPRA Barrel Racing World Standings heading into San Antonio.
NFR cowgirls Sissy Winn, Hailey Kinsel and Ilyssa Riley followed behind Winkelman in the Finals to round out the Top 4 barrel racers in Fort Worth.
