Shad Mayfield Dominates the Competition at Cheyenne Frontier Days with Torn Labrums

Grit and Faith Drove Money Mayfield to Pay Window

Shad Money Mayfield drew the perfect calf for a blazing 9.8-second run in the Cheyenne Frontier Days Finals to take home new hardware and over $16,000.

The No. 1 man in the World has battled torn labrums in both hips all season long but has not let the pain stop him from doing what he does best, win.

“This whole year has been God,” said Mayfield. “I want to push the other kids going through something to just go out there and work hard, and you can do anything.”

Mayfield declared before Cheyenne that he would be returning home to rehabilitate his injuries and prepare for his sixth National Finals Rodeo.

Mayfield has made $183,000 this season in the tie-down roping alone and is also ranked No. 1 in the All-Around World Standings.

He will hang his hat up for now, but he will be one to watch come December.
