Shad Mayfield Earns Himself Back-To-Back Titles at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

Tie-down roper Shad Mayfield wins his second Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo title.

Shad Mayfield came into the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo the defending champion and he left with his second title under his belt. It was a clean sweep for the World Champion Tie-Down Roper as the only thing he had that was less than a first-place finish was splitting that first-place finish in Round 2 of Bracket 1.

On Championship Saturday, the New Mexico native turned Texas cowboy put together his second fastest run of the rodeo that shut the clock off at 7.6 seconds to get the win by slim margins.

“It’s pretty special. You know, I guess I love it here. That horse, she’s pretty special, she makes my job so easy. And you know, we put God first and he sure has done a lot for me,” Mayfield said.

The Winter Run can set somebody up for big things and Mayfield is ready to continue capitalizing on the Texas Swing.

Kyle Lucas was just one-tenth of a second behind Mayfield with reigning World Champion Riley Webb picking up third and veteran Ty Harris in fourth to wrap up the first leg of the Texas Swing.
