Spencer Wright rode for 89.5 points in the Final Round of San Angelo on J Bar J’s Straight Moonshine.

This horse’s reputation in the bareback riding precedes itself, Wright knew that a high score was a good possibility.

“I had a really good horse of Sparky’s. Its been in the bareback riding a lot, they’re 90 on it all the time… really good horse, I was pretty happy with my ride,” Wright said.

Wright had a slow winter and this win with give him some momentum as he heads west to Red Bluff Roundup.

“It’s going to help get a jump start for sure… Things have really turned around. It’s been a lot more fun when you’re winning a lot more, it’s been fun,” he said.

Wright was sitting around No. 30 in the world when he went into San Angelo Rodeo and this win has boosted him to No. 14 in the PRCA World Standings.
