Steer Wrestler Tucker Allen Zeroes In at RodeoHouston Before He Wins it All

Tucker Allen got redemption on the third leg of the Texas Swing.

Tucker Allen made sure to taste redemption at RodeoHouston in the best way. The California steer wrestler finished second in 2024 but this year, the win was all his after he threw down his fastest run of the rodeo during the Championship Shoot Out.

“I’m riding Justin Shaffer’s horse, Gray. Me and Holden [Myers] won first and second on him so that’s just a testimate how good he is. We’ve been using Jace Melvin’s horse, Baywatch, on the hazing side. [I’m] just blessed to be able to ride them horses,” Allen said.

It was first or nothing for Allen but it came down to the basics for the National Finals qualifier when he backed in the box. When the dust settled, he was the fastest by a full second.

“I ended up second here last year and I was not very happy so I said first or nothing. So that’s kind of what I went for. I kind of just dumbed it down. I told myself practice pen run, just like at the house,” he said.

Although this win gives Allen a $47,000 lead in the PRCA World Standings going into the final two Texas Swing rodeos, he has no plans on letting off the gas as he aims for second NFR qualification in September.
