It is still anyone’s game in the steer wrestling as No. 15 and No. 19 are separated by just $8,000.
In proof that no one is immune from the bubble, there are 26 NFR qualifications split among those ranked between No. 11 and No. 20 in the World Standings.
No. 11 Tucker Allen, $90,115
Allen took seventh in the Average in Pendleton to win $1,645 and has added just one check of $367 since. The 25-year-old has finished No. 20 and No. 25 the last two seasons.
No. 12 Tyler Pearson, $90,028
The 39-year-old has been to the NFR five times but not since 2021. Last weekend, he won the Springhill PRCA Rodeo (Louisiana) with his second-fastest run of the season, a 3.4.
No. 13 Tyler Waguespack, $88,843
The five-time World Champion shot from No. 21 to No. 13 after winning the North Dakota Roughrider Cup. He was No. 41 at the beginning of August.
No. 14 Tanner Brunner, $88,299
The four-time NFR qualifier placed third in the Average at the recently finished Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo (Texas).
No. 15 Scott Guenthner $87,705
Guenthner has held steady in the final NFR spot with a fifth place finish in Pendleton and fourth place finish at the Othello PRCA Rodeo (Washington) in the last two weeks.
No. 16 Justin Shaffer, $87,271
Shaffer has never finished better than No. 24 in the World, but is just a few dollars from his first NFR at age 30. He took second at the Buffalo Pro Rodeo (Texas) to win $1,500 on Sept. 21. Shaffer has the benefit of competing in the Governor’s Cup while Nos. 12-15 won’t be.
No. 17 Tristan Martin, $83,337
Martin is doing all he can to make a third NFR in the final days of the season. He was just victorious at the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo and won Round 2 along the way. In total, it paid him close $3,500.
No. 18 Jacob Edler, $79,835
The 2020 World Champion notched a pair of eighth place finishes over the weekend at the Roughrider Cup and River City Rodeo in Omaha, however, they only combined to pay about $800.
No. 19 Stephen Culling, $79,275
Culling, who made his first NFR in 2023, will need to re-capture some magic from early in the season if he wants to make it back to Las Vegas. He has not won a check since Aug. 17.
No. 20 Trisyan Kalawaia, $76,865
The 22-year-old Hawaiian got a big $6,000 payday at the Roughrider Cup to stay in the race.
