Stetson Wright Talks King of the Cowboys, Rodeo in Utah and More

The eight-time World Champion Stetson Wright has a goal to be King of the Cowboys and he is on his way.

For eight-time World Champion Stetson Wright it is simple. There is no plan B.

“I’ve focused my whole life on being the king of the cowboys and I am relatively far from it but in my mind I’m really close to it and the decisions I’ve made, like sitting out of the NFR, is only going to get me there quicker in my mind. So no, I’ve never really thought of any other things in life than pretty much dedicating my whole life to trying to become the best,” Wright said.

There are two names that people think of often when referring to the king of the cowboys: Ty Murray and Trevor Brazile. Wright has had lengthy conversations with both of them.

“I respect both of them like crazy,” he said.

Wright is well on his way to putting his name right next to Murray and Brazile and until then, he continues to shine inside and out of the arena.

“I don’t feel like I have much to offer outside of rodeo, like my knowledge has always been rodeo so I try to help with the schools that I do but I try to help financially with the sporting events where I grew up... I like to give back and try to help grow and help other athletes get to where I’m at,” Wright said.

His dream of being king of the cowboys started in Utah and as he continues down the road of recovery, we continue to see him at rodeos lending a helping hand.
