Cory Melton is a multi-time PBR World Finals and National Finals Rodeo qualifier and now he spends his days as the general manager of Stockyards Pro Rodeo.
He is following in his father’s footsteps who has worked in the rodeo business during Melton’s career and throughout his entire life. Bull riding was the total package for Melton, then and now. There is nothing else he would rather do.
“I enjoyed bull riding, I enjoy rodeo, there is nothing else I would rather be doing so to have a job and be a part of it at this level is just a dream come true,” Melton said.
In 2018, CK Reid joined the PRCA to help promote the Stockyards Championship Rodeo and the Fort Worth Stockyards. It was then that Reid reached out to Melton and in 2019 is when Stockyards Pro Rodeo got started.
“Here we are, three or four years later and we’re doing basically what we’ve always done but on a professional level… really just enjoying ourselves right now,” Melton said.
Stockyards Pro Rodeo might be only a few years old but they already have some stand out superstar animal athletes. Night Train is a top notch saddle bronc while Soy El Fuego, Just Another Gangster and Crash Cart are just a few of Stockyard Pro Rodeo’s bulls that love to buck and do it well.
Stockyards Pro Rodeo has a packed schedule this spring including Clovis along with some smaller, non PRCA rodeos and of course, the Stockyards Championship Rodeo.
