Tyson Durfey on his ProRodeo Tour Win, Securing him a Spot at his 14th NFR

World Champion Tyson Durfey went into the final week of the ProRodeo season sitting No. 20 in the World Standings. At the tour finale, Durfey went 7.8 in the Semi-Finals round to place second and 8 flat in the Finals to win the rodeo.

“I was just thinking, Lord God, please give me the strength to get this done,” he says.

In total, he won about $8,500 in Rapid City and jumped to No, 12 in Standings, meaning we will see Tyson roping at Globe Life Stadium come December.

“I am so thankful, You know, it’s one of those things where it’s a photo finish. It’s what songs are made out of,” Tyson says. "... but, there’s always guys who get bumped out, and it happened to be one of my very good friends Cory Solomon this year. So if everybody could just lift him up in prayer and keep him in your thoughts, because he’s going to come back and dominate next year.”

On his strategy for the NFR: “We’re just going to focus on the basics and let the winning take care of itself.”
