Tyler Waguespack finds himself in a familiar spot headed into his sixth consecutive Wrangler NFR - in the hunt for a Gold Buckle.
The two-time World Campion won $52,678 in the 2020 season putting him in third place in the steer wrestling world standings behind Matt Reeves and Jacob Talley.
After winning nothing in Fort Worth and San Angelo, Waguespack got on the right track in San Antonio when he had four sub-4.0 second runs en route to winning the whole rodeo. The exclamation point was a 3.8-second run in the Championship Round to win $8,970.
It is the second consecutive year Waguespack has won San Antonio.

In addition winning big in the Alamo City, Waguespack also had a good Cowboy Christmas to set him up well heading into the final stretch of the season.
Over the Fourth of July run, Waguespack won the Black Hills Roundup with a 3.4-second a run and finished fourth at the Oakley (Utah) Independence Day Rodeo with a 3.6.
He won close to $6,000 for his performances at those two rodeos.

Waguespack went on to cash more checks of more than $2,000 in the month of July and they came about three days apart in Spanish Fork, Utah and Deadwood, South Dakota.
In Spanish Fork, he threw one down in 3.6 seconds to win $2,263 and in Deadwood, he stopped the clock at 3.7 seconds to earn himself $2,502.
Waguespack is no stranger to success on rodeo’s biggest stage. He has won multiple rounds at the Wrangler NFR each of the last four years.
He also won the average in 2016 and finished second in the average 2018. Those last two even-numbered years, he left Vegas a world champion.
