He goes by Shad ‘Money’ Mayfield for good reason. The 20-year-old cowboy exploded on the scene in 2019, qualifying for his first career NFR at the age of 19. Now, in just his second season, the young superstar has earnings of $157,156 and a lead of more than $89,000 over second place Tuf Cooper.

Mayfield’s biggest win was at RFDTV’s The American where he cashed a check of $600,000. $50,000 of that went to his PRCA World Standings and put him in first place. He wouldn’t lose that top spot for the rest of the season.

The month of February treated Shad well. On February 15 Shad cashed a first-place check of $7,500 at the San Angelo Cinch Chute-Out and the following weekend he would earn over $8,900 at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo after another first-place finish.

Shad had built a nearly insurmountable lead over Tuf Cooper in the World Standings, and while he could have relaxed and enjoyed first-place, he got right back to rodeoing after the COVID-19 delay including a late-season win at the Heart O’ Texas Rodeo which earned him nearly $5,000.

Overall in the 2020 season, Mayfield tallied eight wins and has set himself up to win his first Gold Buckle at just 20 years old.
