2020 Resistol Rookies of the Year Announced

The 2020 PRCA Resistol Rookies of the Year have been announced with the bull riding rookie of the year still to be determined.

The rookie class is highlighted by three bull riders who have qualified for the NFR, and it will take the finals to decide who will walk away with the top spot. Ky Hamilton, Colten Fritzlan, and Parker McCown will all be competing at the NFR.

It was an impressive first year for Hamilton, who is also spending his first year in the United States. The Australian bull rider finished in second place, behind 6 time reigning World Champion Sage Kimzey, and has a great look at a Gold Buckle at his first NFR.

In many years Colten Fritzlan would walk away the Rookie of the Year after a 10th place finish in the standings. Fritzlan earned over $58,000 and will have to have an impressive showing at the NFR to catch Hamilton.

Parker McCown is one spot shy of Fritzlan with $55,561 earned during his 2020 regular season.

It will be a race to the finish for the rookie class in bull riding, and we could see a new champion for the first time in six years, with the young guns vying for Kimzey’s crown.
