Athlete Profile - Marty Yates is going for first and has no regrets

Without a doubt one of the most exciting races at this year’s National Finals Rodeo was in the tie-down roping.

Marty Yates started out hot by winning the first two rounds. He’d go on to win $143,000 and finish second in the average at his seventh Wrangler NFR. When it was all said and done, he lost to Shad Mayfield by less than $250.

Yates has no regrets in anything he does, he is right at home living with the decisions that he makes in the arena. Most of the time, those decisions have to do with going for first place.
