A look back at Lane Frost v. Red Rock in the Challenge of Champions

Legendary bull rider Lane Frost and legendary bucking bull Red Rock are going to live on forever with a sculpture in Red Bluff, California, where Red Rock was raised.

The two athletes will always be linked in history thanks to the Challenge of Champions, a barnstorming event in which Frost rode Red Rock in a best-of-seven series in rodeos across the country. It took place in 1988, one year after both won the World Championship in 1987.

Red Rock was unridden in more than 300 outs, but Frost had four 8-second rides in his seven attempts with the competition all coming down to “Game 7.”

Both Frost and Red Rock are in the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.
