As one of the last cowboys out of the entire rodeo, Riggin Smith rode Lancaster & Jones Pro Rodeo’s Total Equines Angel Fire for 88 points to claim the saddle bronc riding title at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Frontier Days in Weatherford.
The top three cowboys all came from the final performance Saturday night.
Smith said he’s wanted to get on Angel Fire for a long time because he once saw Wade Sundell, his hero, go 90 on him at the National Finals Rodeo.
“I hope I rode him as good as Wade did because Wade freaking aced him,” he said.
The win earned Smith, the 2020 Resistol Rookie of the Year, a little more than $2,000.
