Wenda Johnson after winning Pool A in the barrel racing at Calgary Stampede

Wenda Johnson won three of the four performances in the barrel racing in Pool A at the Calgary Stampede. Overall, she won $20,000 to finish first in her pool.

“The feeling has been amazing, it’s been great to be here, the atmosphere is amazing,” she said.

Johnson, the only American in the barrel racing field, ran Mo for the third straight day and was 17.28 Sunday afternoon.

“I’m grateful I had the opportunity to run him again, of course he’s a young horse so I wanted to build his confidence after running in the mud yesterday,” she said. “This was a great way to follow up and end our set with a successful, clean run.”

By winning the pool, Johnson moves to directly to Showdown Sunday.
