Lindsay Kruse following her Round 1 barrel racing win in Pool B in Calgary

In her first trip to the Calgary Stampede, Lindsay Kruse won Round 1 in Pool B with a time of 17.52 seconds.

“Really nervous, but my husband called earlier and he’s like ‘it’s just another rodeo, just relax,’” she said. “I knew if I rode him (her horse Pistol) right, he could go to work for me.”

Shelby Spielman was second on Day 1 with a time of 17.68, Stacy Ruzicka was third by stopping the clock at 17.75 and Jennifer Sharp and Angela Ganter rounded out the Top 5 with times of 17.79 and 17.81 respectively.
