Cole Reiner wins both rounds to claim Horse Heaven Round-Up bareback riding championship

Cole Reiner left no doubt on Saturday night that he would be the bareback riding champion at the Horse Heaven Round-Up in Kennewick, Washington.

Reiner was 88.5 points on Choke Cherry in the Long Round and he followed it up with 89 points on Agent Lynx in the Short Go. He was 177.5 points on two, seven points clear of second-place Jess Pope.

Reiner said afterward he was happy to draw two Calgary Stampede horses in Washington.

“I’ve had a lot of success on Calgary’s horses in the last year-and-a-half,” he said. “Tilden Hooper won Fort Worth on it (Agent Lynx) last year and I don’t know if I beat his score, but if not, I rode better than him.”

For his win, Reiner earned a total of $7,235, almost twice as much as any other bareback rider at the rodeo.

Reiner is currently No. 9 in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings.

“I feel like I’m on a second wind right now and really picking momentum back up,” he said.
