Five-time PRCA World Champion Stetson Wright was honored among Olympic Gold Medalists, a skateboarding legend and a professional golfer in his native Utah over the weekend.
Wright received the Lewis Feild Memorial Award at Utah’s 10th annual State of Sports Awards. Wright is the fourth recipient and the first non-bareback rider to receive the award. In 2022, any cowboy from Utah became eligible for the award, previously it was awarded exclusively to excellent bareback riders. Past recipients include Tim O’Connell, Caleb Bennett and Tanner Aus.
In 2019, Wright became the first Utah cowboy to win the PRCA All-Around World Title since Lewis Feild himself. Lewis finished his career with with three All-Around Gold Buckles and two Bareback Riding Gold Buckles. His son, Kaycee, has six Gold Buckles in the bareback riding.
Lewis Feild passed away in 2016 after his fight with pancreatic cancer.
