The Bull Riding world standings saw some big movers over the last week. The biggest of which was Garrett Smith who jumped from 25th place to 13th place. Sage Kimzey also took back second place from Josh Frost as the two continue to chase Stetson Wright who remains in first place.
Here is a look at the current world standings.
1. Stetson Wright, $148,563
Wright has been a mainstay at the No. 1 spot in the World Standings and remains $38,000 ahead of Sage Kimzey in second place. Over the weekend Wright placed second in the first two rounds of the Cactus Jack Xtreme Bulls with 88 and 87 point rides.
2. Sage Kimzey, $110,806
Stetson earned over $7,000 at the Cactus Jack Xtreme Bulls, but that didn’t help him pull further away from Sage Kimzey who won the event. Kimzey won over $11,000 at the rodeo after going 86.5 points in round one, 88.5 points in round two, and 86 points in the finals. The big weekend helped Kimzey jump Josh Frost and retake second place in the World.
3. Josh Frost, $105,080
Josh Frost slipped to third place in the world standings after placing fourth at the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo with an 85-point ride. Frost is cementing himself as one of the best Bull Riders in the world after finishing in second place last year and now comfortably sitting inside the Top 3.
4. Jeff Askey, $65,318
Jeff Askey hasn’t seen much change in the past week. He failed to earn more than $500 over the last week after having a great end to April where he placed third at the George Paul Memorial and won the Henderson County First Responders Rodeo.
5. Roscoe Jarboe, $57,918
Roscoe Jarboe hasn’t competed since April 28 but remains in the Top 5 thanks to big checks earlier in the season at Rodeo Houston and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
6. Lukasey Morris, $49,302
The rookie has been impressive in his maiden voyage on tour. Morris finished in third place at the American Royal Rodeo after going 82 points on Ghost Face. Not only will Morris look to qualify for his first career NFR, but is also in a tight race for the Resistol Rookie of the Year.
7. Bubba Greig, $47,980
Speaking of rookies, Bubba Greig has been just as impressive as Morris. Greig has been struggling of late, failing to cash a check in his last six rides dating back to April 24th.
8. Trey Kimzey, $46,302
Trey Kimzey is hoping to get things turned around as he has struggled over the last month. Kimzey’s last check of over $1,000 came back on March 26th at the High Desert Stampede. Kimzey has failed to go the full eight seconds on his last seven bulls.
9. Ky Hamilton, $45,983
Ky Hamilton continues to climb the standings and did again over the last two weeks after winning a round at the George Paul Memorial thanks to a 90.5-point ride. Hamilton also paced third at Clovis after an 85.5-point ride.
10. Ernie Courson, $45,272
Courson has not ridden in the month of May but is still inside the Top 10 after a big April where he won just under $10,000. Courson has already passed his career earnings total in this season alone and will look to make his first career NFR.
11. Scottie Knapp, $43,427
Knapp remains out after suffering his leg at the Lake Havasu Rodeo when a bull stepped on his leg, requiring surgery. At the time of the injury, Knapp was ranked fifth in the world.
12. JR Stratford, $42,875
Stratford has not ridden in the month of May but a big win at the Red Bluff Round-Up that made him more than $7,000 has Stratford inside the Top 15.
13. Garrett Smith, $42,267
Garrett Smith made the biggest move of the week across all events, jumping from 25th to 13th place in the world. Smith started off his weekend with a win at the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo thanks to a 91-point ride. He followed that up with a second-place ride in Round 1 of Cactus Jack Xtreme Bulls and then placed first in the final round.
In total Smith would earn $15,000 on the weekend.
14. Cole Fischer, $37,947
Fischer hasn’t cashed a check in May but did have a nice payday at the Wharton County Youth Fair where he went 91 points to win the rodeo and over $5,000.
15. Toby Collins, $38,701
Collins has early April to thank for his ranking. Collins won San Angelo and followed that up with a win at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo. The two wins earned him more than $8,000.
16. Grayson Cole, $37,003
Grayson Cole has not ridden in the month of May but still is just under $2,000 out of 15th place.
17. Parker Breding, $35,927
