Lari Dee Guy on Her Mental Game going into Corpus Christi

Lari Dee Guy is a nine-time World Champion and the next place you will see her is in Corpus Christi at the Buc Days Rodeo.

The performance starts at 8:00 PM ET and Guy has been practicing like always to get ready for this Triple Crown event.

“I’ve always been a roper, I love to rope… I’ve roped so many calves in my lifetime and the older I get the more ailments I may have so I try to prepare mentally a lot more and use that to help me as well,” she said.

Guy’s focus on the mental side of the sport has increased significantly as she has gotten older. She has a mental game coach that she says as helped so much.

“The older you get the more you learn that there are strategies and ways to be mentally prepared and ready to go. So, I put a lot of focus on my mental game these days,” Guy says.

One thing that helps your mental game, is knowing you have a solid equine partner. Guy’s mount is a black horse that she calls Rex. She says he runs, never cheats and gives you a good chance. The only thing that Guy works on with him is his score.

Guy is going for a big paycheck in Corpus Christi and she has to finish in the top two of this progressive round to move on to the Shootout Round.
