The Calgary Stampede was Dona Kay Rule’s first rodeo since April 22 after she quietly took some time off due to hip replacement surgery. Her return to rodeo has been unbelievable.

In Pool A of The Calgary Stampede, which wrapped up on Monday, Rule finished second place after earning $13,500 on her two-time Horse of the Year Valor.

Rule finished out Round 1 in second place with a time of 17.69 and kept the momentum going in Round 2 to take the top spot with a 17.54. Rule stayed consistent and left Day 3 in third place with a time of 17.68 and on Day 4, they did not have the run they hoped for, but their first three were enough to get them into the Short Go.

Going into The Calgary Stampede, Rule was sitting at No. 8 in the WPRA World Standings. She will run again on Sunday, July 17 in the Short Go for her chance to leave Canada with one of the iconic Calgary Stampede bronze trophies.
