Powder River’s SweetPro’s Bruiser will no longer compete at rodeos.

The 2017 PRCA Bull of the Year and top bull at the Wrangler NFR in 2015, 2017 and 2019 will be retired, according to ProRodeo Sports News. The 11-year-old bull has been dealing with a hurt tendon in his leg.

“He was a once-in-a-lifetime bull,” H.D. Page, Bruiser’s owner at D&H Cattle Co. said. “He was a big, stout athletic animal with a personality to match. It is crazy how cool he is to be around. He’s one of those bulls who makes what we do fun. He had intensity that other bulls didn’t have.”

Some of Bruiser’s most memorable outs in recent memory are J.W. Harris’ 92.5-point ride to win the 2019 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, Ruger Piva’s 92-point ride to win Caldwell in 2019 and of course, Sage Kimzey’s 94-point ride in Round 8 of the 2019 NFR.

“As a bull rider, Bruiser is one you dream to get on and I’m glad it happened,” Kimzey said. “In my opinion, he’s probably the coolest bucking bull of all time. He’s a pet in the back pen. You can go love on him and scratch him. He was a fair competitor. He stands good in the box and he’s all you can ask for. He’s super athletic and super fair and honest every trip. He has the wow factor.”
