Taycie Matthews and Poprocks Cinch Emotional Round 2 Win in Calgary

Taycie Matthews eyes a return to the Calgary Stampede Final Four aboard her beloved Poprocks.

Barrel racer Taycie Matthews made waves in Calgary in 2023 when she left it all in the arena during a tough Final Four. She is setting her self up to be back in that Final Four all over again on the same horse.

“It felt amazing, I’m just so thankful to be back on Poprocks. It’s been a long eight months,” Matthews said.

The duo now leads the Average in the barrel racing having earned $12,000 so far. A 17.03 is what earned them the Round 2 win and it is an emotional one for Matthews has Poprocks is her mom’s horse that was sidelined after their success in 2023.

In true rodeo fashion, this injury did not keep Poprocks down and they are back to feeling good in Canada with sights set on a Calgary Stampede Bronze.
