Team Roper Clay Smith Talks Returning From Injury and Successfully Qualifying for Another NFR

Clay Smith had one of the biggest comeback stories of the year. After breaking his tibia and fibula in Prescott, Smith had surgery in Prescott and he returned to the heading box just a month later to capture an emotional win at the Dodge City Roundup.

“I love the Cowboy Channel and sitting at home watching the rodeos, I was like, this is the most painful thing I’ve ever had to watch,” Smith said.

His determination paid off as he put together a plan and system that allowed him to continue rodeoing this year. He is entering his eighth National Finals Rodeo sitting No. 13 in the World and nothing can slow him down.
