Team Roper Kavis Drake Handled the Pressure Like a Pro to Win it All in Edmonton

Team roping header Kavis Drake claims his first Canadian title.

Kavis Drake was the youngest cowboy to back into the box at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton and after Five Rounds of fierce competition, he walked away the Champion on the head side.

“I just try to back in there and keep it simple, just try to rope the cow that’s in the chute,” Drake said.

Although the title came down to just tenths of a second, keeping things simple cleared all the noise for Drake to make the title his. When things went right for Drake and his partner, Denim Ross, and the duo caught, they won. Three of five Go-Round wins were theirs.

As for the Aggregate, Kash Bonnett’s 40 on five head would be the fastest time on the board and Bonnett would also be the No. 2 man for the season.
