Hunter Koch’s 2024 season looked a little different than the rest. He had a new partner, Cody Snow, and the right horsepower to make it all happen once again. The No. 14 ranked heeler in the World is now a four-time National Finals Rodeo Team Roper.
La Fiesta De Los Vaqueros, $10,094
Koch and Snow slipped into the Round 1 money in Tucson before besting their 5.8-second run by over a second in the Finals. There, they would put 4.5 seconds on top of the leaderboard and a 10.3 on two head put them on top of the Average.
San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, $7,750
The new duo would be the No. 1 team to advance out of Bracket 3 with $6,250 to their name after three runs in the 4.0-second range set their pace. A no time in the Semifinals did not keep them from the Finals where a 4.1-second run brought their trip to San Antone to a close.
World’s Oldest Rodeo, $17,395
Koch’s biggest pay day of the 2024 regular season came in July. The duo would be third in Round 1 before tying for sixth in Round 2. Like most summer rodeos, this was an Average game that Koch played well. His 12.5 on two was a full second faster than the next time for the win.
California Rodeo Salinas, $6,508
On the West Coast, it would take placing in only two of five Go-Rounds to get a nice Average check. Koch and Snow’s best time in Salinas came in at 7.4 seconds in Round 4 for a second-place pay day but they still ended up fifth in the Average when the dust settled.
That Famous Preston Night Rodeo, $3,238
An $8,200 week started off in Idaho. A trip to the pay window came after a time of 5.0 seconds put them third behind the Graham Brothers and Erich Rogers and Paul Eaves.
This was followed up with a fourth-place pay day at the War Bonnett Round Up and another third at Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo. The appearance in Kansas brought the team their fastest time overall of the week with a 4.6-second run.
Caldwell Night Rodeo, $6,685
Their success in Idaho continued when they pulled into Caldwell. They were 5.5 for a three-way split for third in Round 1 before a 5.7-second run in the Finals earned them the Round win. They wound up third in the Average with a time of 18.9 seconds on three head.
Lewiston Roundup, $3,017
The season was not over without another $5,000 week and another pay day form Idaho. A 3.8-second run in Lewiston fell one tenth of a second short of the win but was enough to get them in the money in a big way.
That same week they cashed in at the Lake County Round-Up in Oregon. There, a 4.4-second run was good enough for third.
