The Fort Worth Stockyards Welcome The Railcar Coffee & Spirits

Native Texan Kristin Brown has always had an affinity for coffee and Western culture, so when deciding to open up her own brew house, the Fort Worth Stockyards — a place she holds near and dear to her heart — seemed like the perfect spot.

Her new coffee shop on Exchange Ave., just a few doors down from the iconic M.L. Leddy’s custom bootmaker and boutique, pays tribute to the rich history of the Stockyards as a cattle hub in the late 1800s.

(Between 1866 and 1890, drovers herded more than four million head of cattle through Fort Worth, hence the nickname Cowtown. The railroad then came to Fort Worth in 1876, establishing the city as major shipping point for livestock, and in 1887, the s Union Stockyards were erected.)

Appropriately named The Railcar, the new coffee shop features a long mural of a old railroad car, with historic Western figures peeking out from its windows. On the menu, you’ll find lattes and cappuccinos, inventive drinks such as the Doc Holiday and the Bonnie, a selective list of beer and wine, as well as the traditional cup of cowboy coffee, strong and black.

It’s just the spot to start your day with a jolt of caffeine, or drop by for a glass of wine after a day of shopping.
