The Montana State University Rodeo Team is Washington Bound for Inauguration Day

MSU prepares for an appearance in the Inauguration Day Parade.

The Montana State University Bobcats are in Washington DC alongside Coaches Kyle Whitaker and Savanna Bolich preparing to ride in the Inauguration Day Parade.

Montana Representative Ryan Zinke sent the rodeo team the nomination application in November but it was the week of Christmas when they secured their place in the parade, filled out the paperwork and were cleared to make the trip.

“Everybody has done everything they can to help us out and get organized, connections all over the country have come together to help us get some horses organzied. We had to put horses through clearance and all of that, so it’s very unique, something that I didn’t plan on every dealing with as a rodeo coach but it’s been a good experience and we’re looking forward to it,” said Assistant Coach Savannah Bolich.

With almost the entire team interest and excited about the opportunity, close to 40 rodeo athletes of MSU made plans to get to Washington DC.

“It hasn’t totally sunk in yet but every once in a while I tell Savannah it’ll all be worth it when we’re done with all this and ready for it because yeah, if this is our chance to not only represent Montana State, we’re representing rodeo and the entire western way of life. It’s really special and a great honor,” said Head Coach Kyle Whitaker.
