The Stage is Set for a Photo Finish in the Resistol Rookie Race at the National Finals Rodeo

It will take ten days of tough competition before a Resistol Bull Riding Rookie of the Year is crowned.

Of the five Resistol Rookies that punched their ticket to the Thomas and Mack, three will be in the bull riding. Jeter Lawrence, Wacey Schalla and Cooper James have rodeoed like veterans all season long and it paid off.

Lawrence’s month of September has been nothing short of spectacular. He added over $73,000 to his name during the last month of the season while over the Summer Run, he claimed big wins like the Cody Stampede and California Rodeo Salinas.

The No. 1 cowboy in the Resistol Rookie All-Around Race happens to be No. 2 in the bull riding. Schalla held on to No. 1 for almost the entire season until Sioux Falls but he still claimed over $20,000 in September to end his season.

The third and final rookie in the bull riding that you will see in Las Vegas is James. He also ended the season on a high as he placed in a Go-Round of the Governor’s Cup before winning the Omaha River City Rodeo.

All three rookies sit inside the Top 10 in the PRCA World Standings going into their first National Finals Rodeo and the fight is on to see who will be your 2024 Resistol Rookie of the Year.
