Tie-Down Roper Dylan Hancock is the Defending Champion at his Hometown Rodeo

The 2024 San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Champion Dylan Hancock is back.

A 7.8-seconds run is the one that earned Dylan Hancock the win at his hometown rodeo, the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, in 2024.

“Man, it was like a dream came true. Everyone wants to win their hometown rodeo and to get it done. I was kind of towards the bottom in the Short Round then came back and had a great calf and made a good run. The place went wild and it was one of the coolest nights, for sure,” Hancock said.

Hancock got faster with every run he made in San Angelo and while he did not think the win was going to come his way, it did just that.

“I shouldn’t say I didn’t think I had a chance to win. I always think I have a chance to win. But, maybe coming from the back of the herd and having to go out there and make a run and not have to think about everyone else that has already gone, I like being from the back of the pack and coming to the front,” he said.

Rodeo and calf roping specifically is a staple in San Angelo and the community is one that rallies around its hometown cowboys like Hancock.

Hancock is sitting No. 17 in the World Standings going back into San Angelo with his good bay, Earl, and a new paint in tow.

“I’ll be riding Earl there again at San Angelo this year so I’m excited. It should be good,” he said.
