Tie-Down Roper Ty Harris Had a Very Merry Cowboy Christmas

Harris just secured the new record for money won during Cowboy Christmas

During this year’s Cowboy Christmas five-time NFR tie-down roper Ty Harris shattered his own record by almost $10,000.

Harris previously held the record for most money won over Cowboy Christmas at $40,000, which he set in 2023, but has now bumped that record up to $49,550 in 2024.

The money started to stack up when he took the No.1 spot at rodeos in Oakley City with a 7.4-second run, Eugene, Oregon with an 8.4-second run, and Basin City, Washington with a 7.9-second run. He was also on a hot streak picking up checks for as much as $8,304 at rodeos in St. Paul, Oregon, Cody, Wyoming, and Prescott, Arizona

While he started July about $60,000 out of first place in the World Standings, these major wins have put him just a little over $13,000 behind the No. 1 man, Shad Mayfield, and $30,000 ahead of the No. 3 man, Haven Meged.
