Tim O’Connell is the reigning champion of the Riggin Rally in Weatherford, Texas while Will O’Connell was one of professional rodeo’s top pickup men who now owns Championship Pro Rodeo and the Riggin Rally.
O’Connell and his partner, Jimmy Roth, had the vision of being one of the elite stock contractors in professional rodeo and the Riggin Rally was a premier event that lined up with their goals. When the opportunity came to own it, they took it.
“We thought what better way, to have the top bucking horses in the country, the top bareback riders and a world class event, I don’t think it gets any better than that,” Will said.
For Tim O’Connell, a three-time World Champion and currently the No. 10 bareback rider in the world, Riggin Rally’s bring elite competitors and elite horses together in a competition format that showcases bareback riding at a level that has never been seen before.
“When Tilden Hooper called me, and a couple other guys, at the inaugural event, we all just wanted to go rodeo. The Steiners welcomed all of us with open arms… They’re known for doing things above and beyond, it is the Steiners way. We all got together and got on great horses and it really showed that bareback riding could be a stand-alone evet,” Tim said.
Every Riggin Rally gets better and better. This next one will be the best opportunity that there has ever been for the public to buy tickets and come watch at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Arena in Weatherford, where as before, it was held in the Steiner’s backyard. They are also hosting a Tailgate Draft Party that will take place Sunday, April 10 at 2:00 ET where the top 30 bareback riders in the world will have the chance to pick their horse.
There will be eight stock contractors bringing their top horses to Weatherford and the bareback riders have had a hand in creating and progressing this event. It all takes place April 9-10 in Weatherford, Texas and it will be on The Cowboy Channel Plus.
