Shane Hanchey’s favorite time of year has rolled around and although the World Champion is breaking in some new horsepower, he is showing just how good he is at what he does.

After winning the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo (Utah) last week, he was back for more, winning three more rodeos this past weekend to make Hanchey your Timed Event Athlete of the Week once again.

A 9.6-second run was just out of the money in Round 1 at the Crooked River Roundup (Oregon), but an 8.5 put him third in Round 2. It is all an Average game and that paid off when Hanchey’s time on two was 18.5 seconds, making him No. 1 in the Average by over half a second. He cashed in almost $6,000 in Oregon alone on his young horse Jules.

From there, Hanchey headed north where he racked up two more wins on his sorrel, River. An 8.2 at the Sundre Pro Rodeo in Alberta let him split the win with Connor Atkinson and add $3,400 to his earnings. He followed it up with a 9.0-second run in High River to rack in his third win of the week.

Hanchey’s winter was not the best he has ever had but the veteran tie-down roper has begun climbing the standings, and in a hurry, going from No. 32 to No. 21 after these three wins.
