Tristen Hutchings Looks Back at Championship Sunday and His RodeoHouston Win

RodeoHouston Champion Tristen Hutchings is No. 3 in the World.

Tristen Hutchings’ 2025 season might have started as a slow burn but his success and win at RodeoHouston made up for lost time.

“It took about six hours to sink in. I’d won it and then everybody takes off out of there and kind of leaves and you just get in the car and go home. I was happy but then I was laying in bed that night and I was watching some videos over and over again and I looked at my girlfriend and I said I cannot believe I won Houston,’ Hutchings said.

This win sent Hutchings straight to the top of the World Standings to No. 3 when before RodeoHouston, an injury that sidelined him after the National Finals Rodeo had him coming in late to the 2025 season with zero earnings.

The Four-Man bull that Hutchings made his 91.5-point ride on Cervi’s Centerfold.

“I enjoyed him, he was good. He had a lot of timing but I couldn’t seem to pick any of it up, I was kind of all over the place on him. But, he had a good center and I rode him really good,” he said.

Adding even more momentum to Hutchings’ 2025 season is the fact that he has covered 13 of 18 bulls.

“I mean the big, strong factor about it is I took a month off to let the PCL heal up and I tried to come back. I got on eight or nine bulls and I got my butt kicked by every single one of them,” he said.

After that, a conversation between Hutchings and seven-time World Champion Sage Kimzey changed it all. Kimzey helped Hutchings get a brand new game plan together.

“I’ve seen my riding sky rocket since then. So Sage Kimzey helped me out a bunch... I attribute good practice and good people to listen to, to how I got better and where I am today compared to where I was last September,” he said.

The satisfaction that came from winning RodeoHouston is so much more than just a win. It is a marathon that Hutchings hit the jackpot on and the momentum is pushing him into the next leg of the Texas Swing.
